Bio

Biography

I was born 1976 in Québec and lived there for the first 25 years except for two years in Germany (1986-87 and 1993-94). After having obtained a DEC in natural sciences (Petit Séminaire de Québec), I started studying chemistry at the Université Laval while learning music at the Cégep Ste-Foy. In 1999, still at the Université Laval, I obtained a bachelor of music (Honours in Piano Performance) followed two years later by a master of music (Option Musicology). From 2001-2005, I studied in a doctoral program at the Universität Osnabrück, and I obtained a PhD in Musicology (specialization in Music Technology) in 2005. Since then, I split up my time between my job as coordinator of epOs (a publishing house associated to the Universität Osnabrück), piano teaching, the redaction of a book about German culture, translation, research, programming, and various other projects.

I speak and write fluently in french, german and english, and I also master some basics of spanish, russian, danish and serbo-croatian.

My skills in informatics are very solid:

  • office software (Latex, MS- and Open Office, Photoshop, Acrobat)
  • specialized music software (Finale, Cakewalk, etc.), MIDI
  • programming in Java, C/C++, C#, .NET environment, SQL and HTML
  • networking
  • Windows and Linux

Finally, in my spare time, I play the piano for fun and involve myself in badminton as a player, trainer and referee.
